Penal Code, 1860–Secs. 498-A, 406 & 354–FIR–Prayer for quashment–FIR was lodged after seventeen years of marriage–Complainant started to live separately in rented premises with her husband–Allegation up to effect that maltreatment with her was remained to continue and she was forced to live her father’s home–Earlier, petitioner-husband gave in writing in the conciliation proceedings that he would not maltreat his wife again if she comes back–Allegation against him constitutes the offence of cruelty–However, the allegation of offence u/s. 354 against the petitioner-father-in-law was not found true by Investigation Officer–Proceedings qua him and motherin-law deserves to be quashed.
