Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973–Sec. 157–Sending of FIR of Magi strate–Nature of provision–Held, the word “forthwith” inserted in Sec. 457(1) makes it obligatory on part of on officer in charge of a police station to send
the report–Real purpose of provision is to avoid the possibility of the improvement in the prosecution case and introduction of distorted version by deliberations and consultations and to enable the Magistrate concerned to
have a watch on the progress of the investigation.
