Consumer Protection Act, 1986–Sec. 2(r)–Unfair trade practice–Act is a beneficial piece of legislation and was enacted to safeguard the interest of the consumers from the unfair trade practice used by the traders and should be construed in favour of the consumer to achieve its purpose, however, such approach should not do violence to the provisions of the Act and should be in line with the attempted objective of the Act.
