Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012–Sec. 6 (As am-ended)–Applicability of provision–The offence was committed on 20.05.2019, and the amended provisions of Sec. 6 came into force w.e.f. 16.08.2019–These could not have been applied in the case of the accused–The sentence of imprisonment for life, meaning remainder of natural life, did not exist in the statutory frame work on 20.05.2019–Sentence deserves to be modified up to rigorous imprisonment for life.
