Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954–Secs. 7 & 16(1)(c)–Conviction–Sentence of six months S.I. with the fine of Rs. one thousand–Incident occurred in the year 1987–Sentence can be commuted by the appropriate government–However, in view of the fact that one decade has been gone, it would be appropriate to commute the sentence–Petitioner is directed to deposit the fine of Rs. 6000/- as commutation of sentence.
