Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985–Sec. 55–Nature of provision–It is mandatory on part of officer in charge of the police station to allow the officer bringing the seized articles to the police station to afix his seal–Officer in charge is also under obligation to allow such officer to take a quantity of the sample as a safe guard against tampering with the articles seized and deposited–Officer in charge is also bound to affix his own seal–Provision is meant to ensure that the samples are not tempered at any stage.
