Apprentices Act, 1961–Sec. 18–Industrial Disputes Act, 1947–Sec. 18 of Act, 1961 clearly excludes the applicability of the labour laws in relation to apprentices–Therefore, the provisions of the Act of 1947 are not applicable in matters dealing with the apprenticeship–Respondents executed-apprenticeship contract for eleven months–They are bound by the same and they are estopped to challenge the same after the expiry of their terms as an apprentice–Now, they cannot claim themselves as ‘workmen’ to invoke the jurisdiction of the Labour Court under the provisions of Act of 1947–Impugned awards are liable to be quashed and set aside.
