Penal Code, 1860–Secs. 307, 506(II), 498-A & 294(6) [Corresponding Secs. 109, 351(3), 84 & 296 of BNS, 2023]–Appellate Court modified the sentence for the offence u/s. 307 from life imprisonment to twelve years–Since, the maximum sentence u/s. 307, if life sentence is avoided, can only a maximum of ten years–Considering the entire circumstances, the relationship between the parties, and injuries caused, the sentence of seven years would be suffice–Modified accordingly.
