Evidence Act, 1872–Sec. 154–Scope–Section does not make any distinction between the civil and criminal law–Provision vests a discretion with the Court to permit the person who calls a witness to put any question to him which can be put in cross-examination by the adverse party–Permission granted to plaintiff to cross-examine his witness was perfectly valid in terms of law–Further, the depositions made by him were rightly relied upon by the Court below.
