Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973–Sec. 204–Cognizance on protest petition–Scope for taking–Trial Court is required to proceed to take cognizance u/s. 204 Cr.P.C. only when there appears to be some substantial evidence so as to discard the strong negative report.
