Motor Vehicles Act, 1988–Sec. 166–In the case of a motor vehicle which is subject to a hire purchase agreement, whether the financer can be treated as the owner ?–Held, no–The person in possession of the vehicle under the hypothecation agreement has to be treated as the owner and the financer cannot be treated to be the owner and, therefore, he is not liable to pay compensation.
