Penal Code, 1860–Sec. 511 [Corresponding Sec. 62 of BNS, 2023]–An attempt necessarily presupposes–
(1) a specific and definite intention to commit the particular offence, and
(2) an overt act done in pursuance of that intention, which is sufficiently proximate to the intended crime, and
(3) a stage where preparation, coupled with some effort in execution, forms part of continuous sequences leading towards completion of the offence.
