Penal Code, 1860–Sec. 300, Exception I–Essential ingredients of sudden provocation–
(a) provocation was not sought or voluntarily provoked by the offender,
(b) provocation was not given by anything done in obedience of the law, and
(c) provocation was not given by anything done in the lawful exercise of the right of private defence.
